WELCOME TO
FUN ON THE RUN

'Fun on the Run' is a program to help girls ages 7-12 develop an enduring passion for distance running. Our two-month program requires no prior experience. We make this program memorable by running practice 5ks as a team, playing games, and having friendly competitions. Using motivational coaching, we hope to inspire girls to pursue their goals, in athletics and beyond.

-First class: Sunday, September 19

-Each program is 2-months long with one session per week at Memorial Park on Sundays at 5pm.

-Lessons are 1 hour per week on Sunday evenings: 15 minutes of warm-up with injury prevention in mind, 30 minutes of drills and exercises, and 15 minutes of running-related games/sports

-We start small and gradually increase running distance. Our goal, by the end of the course, is to prepare students for 5k runs. This is achievable if kids practice by themselves.

-Students will be rewarded with prizes and candy (reasonable portions- with parents' permission) for putting in the effort

-The course will culminate with a mock 5k race

TESTIMONIALS

Deepa Reddy, Parent

Maya is an amazing coach and role model for young kids. She provides great insight for kids. She coaches kids in a fun and entertaining way by incorporating games and riddles. My daughter loves going to the Fun on the Run program. I appreciate the great initiative by Maya to introduce running to young kids in a fun and entertaining way. It is amazing how Maya is able to find the balance between being a Junior in High school and coaching the young kids.

Charmaine van Niekerk, RRCA certified coach.

Somya, Running Student

I never really enjoyed running, especially long distances. After working with Maya for a few weeks, I noticed that running became easier. Maya's experience and positivity have helped me so much.

I am excited that Maya is involved in a program to introduce young runners to distance running. Running is a fantastic sport for kids to be involved in at a young age. It keeps them physically fit and healthy and teaches many life-skills, such as better concentration, confidence, time management, and goal achievement. As Maya’s coach for the half-marathon distance since March 2019, I am confident that Maya will harness the skills she developed to benefit youth runners. She is passionate about running and knows that for kids to want to run, they have to enjoy it, so she will make it fun. You will do well, Maya!
